Abstract

We present the first complete simulation of the thermal effects, due to light power absorption in optical components, that can occur in interferometric gravitational-wave detectors and restrict their sensitivity. The simulation is achieved by coupling a fast optical propagation code with analytical formulas for thermal aberrations (thermal lens and thermoelastic distortions) of mirrors. Numerical results and implications for the first generations of detectors are presented.
