Abstract
The basic points of an analytical model developed for calculating the six-high stand stiffness, the results of its application, and the use of a finite element method are presented to compare the strains in six- and four-high stands and their efficiency in controlling the accuracy indices of rolled strips. The index ranges in which the use of six-high stands is more efficient than four-high stands are determined. The cold-rolled (including high-strength alloy steel) strip thickness is 0.1–0.2 mm, and the thickness oscillations of semi-finished hot-rolled products must not exceed 0.09–0.12 mm. Moreover, stringent requirements, which correspond to the “extremely high flatness” class, are imposed on the nonflatness indices.
