Abstract

To investigate the characteristics of storm surge on Dongtou fishery port by the different tracks of typhoons, a series of numerical simulations is carried out by using the Delft3D model. The tidal level processes of 4 typhoons which passed by the fishery port on four different directions are analyzed. The results show that the simulated tidal level value is in a good agreement with the observed data of 6 tide stations nearby and the mean absolute error of high tidal level is 15cm. A single-peak type of storm surge is observed on tide stations when the typhoon passed by on the eastern and northern side of the fishery port. While a multi-peak type is observed when the typhoon passed by on the southern side of the fishery port. And it is a fluctuant type when as the typhoon is on the western side. Due to the influence of terrain around the fishery port, the storm surge in the fishery port is different from the tide stations nearby. A tri-peak type of storm surge is observed on tide stations when the typhoon passed by the eastern side of the fishery port. And the others: a single-peak type (south), a fluctuant type (west and north).
