Abstract

AbstractThe phase dynamics of intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJ) in high temperature superconductors is investigated. We calculate numerically the current-voltage characteristics (CVC) of IJJ in the framework of the capacitively coupled Josephson junctions model with diffusion current. The effect of electromagnetic irradiation on the CVC of coupled Josephson junctions is demonstrated. Variation of the Shapiro steps and of the critical current with the radiation amplitude is systematically studied for a single junction. These results are generalized for a stack of coupled Josephson junctions. The effects of coupling between junctions on the Shapiro steps in the CVC and on the electric charge oscillations in the superconducting layers at the parametric resonance are shown.KeywordsMicrowave irradiationShapiro stepsJosephson junctions
