Abstract

Numerous environmental factors, including noise, have adverse effect on the hearing aid. The authors conducted an experimental study with the participation of 34 white mongrel rats and suggested a method of simulation of sensorineural hearing loss caused by the exposure of 90 dB wide-band noise with simultaneous immobilization of animals. The development of hearing loss was confirmed by the results of recording the delayed induced otoacoustic emission. After removal of the rats from the experiment, histological preparations of animals’ cochlea were made and examined under light microscopy. The main group of rats had dystrophic, destructive changes in the structures of the spiral organ and the spiral ganglion. This hearing loss «model» can be used for study of medications in sensorineural hearing loss.
