Abstract

Wind field simulations with a simple mechanistic circulation model are performed for solstice conditions. The mean zonal wind as well as the temperature field are in good agreement with realistic conditions, and agree with climatologies from literature. The semidiurnal tide at 52°N is compared with the long term data set from Collm and Juliusruh, Germany. For several cases it is shown that measurements are well represented by the simulations.
