Abstract
Modern Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies have made it possible to produce complex structures, including open porous geometries. Optimal application of porous structures requires a detailed understanding of their properties. Conventionally, laboratory testing is used to explore the porous media properties. This approach is more and more complemented by numerical simulations. Yet these simulations can be difficult to carry out, as the porosities are not based on detailed CAD but on changing machine parameters. Therefore, no digital representation of the porosities prior manufacturing exists which could be used for simulations In this paper methods to study the basic properties of stochastic porous structures based on geometry reconstruction by means of micro-CT are presented.
