Abstract

This paper presents a new method for generating a large set of experimentally derived time-series of rain attenuation to be employed in the channel simulation of a large satellite-based resource-sharing network. The time-series are organized in basic periods of fixed length (1 h) containing properly scaled attenuation data collected with the Italian satellite ITALSAT at 18.7, 39.6, and 49.5 GHz and are allocated to the various links with an algorithm that, on the long run, preserves both the statistical behavior of all the sites and the spatial correlation between all the couples of sites. Test results for the method validation are given.
