Abstract

The antenna pattern is much relative with different excited modes in the conical horn antenna. With TE11 as the main mode, the integral power calculated according to the pattern of conical horn antenna for different power ratios of TM01 (0, 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%) is simulated and analyzed in the paper. The results show that with the increase of TM01 power ratio, the gain decreases and the 3dB lobe width increases. The H pattern is still symmetric with respect to the antenna spindle, however, the E pattern whose maximum radiation direction gradually deviates from the main axis no longer presents symmetric distribution. If E pattern and H pattern is adopted separately, the integral power will be greater than or less than 100% of real radiation power when the symmetry of E pattern and H pattern is poor. In the presence of hybrid modes, the difference between the results of theoretical integration and the results of bilateral integration for asymmetric pattern can be reduced. In the case of TE11 and TM01 hybrid modes where the power ratio of TM01 is less than 10%, the difference between integral power and real radiation power is less than 3%.
