Abstract
A procedure is worked out which enables the scattering of heavy ions at strippers to be explicitly incorporated into beam optics calculations for tandem Van de Graaff accelerators. The method is applicable to the phase space ellipsoid type of calculation or ray tracing. An example is given of the use of the procedure with an interactive beam optics computer program.
