Abstract

A versatile Monte Carlo toolkit for simulation of electron drift in gases is used in order to estimate the absolute proportional scintillation yield of gaseous argon and xenon in the near infra-red region. Experimental data of this quantity available for argon as a function of the amplification electric field is bounded by two different initial models. The calculations for the case of xenon are also presented.
