Abstract

We report the simulation of five Ca 2+ regulation mechanisms in response to voltage-clamp pulses applied at the membrane. We obtain the currents generated and also record the Ca 2+ concentration changes in the whole cell during and after the pulse. Our simulator includes models for the L-type voltage-dependent Ca 2+ channels, the Ca 2+ pump, the Na +/Ca 2+ exchanger and a fast buffering system, along with diffusion assuming a spheric cell shape.
