Abstract
To provide the theoretical foundation for mechanical design and ensure the safe operation of the power module for flash lamp-pumped lasers, the failure caused by the explosion of capacitor or inductor was studied by finite element analysis software. The hazards associated with the explosive accidents mainly include overpressure and shrapnel. Simulation results show that the overpressure on the shell of the energy condition module can reach to 100 kPa. The shell, such as blast door, will deform under the high quasi-static overpressure and the connection components will stand high stress. Also, when explosion occurs, high-speed fragments will be generated and hit on the shell. Simulation results illustrate that the shell will distort severely and the shrapnel will escape from the shelter at high speed, which threatens the safety of devices and personnel.
