Abstract

The neutron and proton spectra and the energy deposition at the Sub-critical Assembly in Dubna (SAD) have been studied with the Monte Carlo code MCNPX. The subcritical reactor will be used for study of transmutation of nuclear waste and energy production. The energy deposition in the reactor and in the tungsten and lead target, i.e. in the direction of the incident proton beam was calculated. Neutron spectra by separating the radiation fields into a spallation-induced and a fission-induced part was calculated. It was shown that the neutrons with energy higher than 10 MeV, originating exclusively from the proton-induced spallation reactions in the target.
