Abstract

With the development of electromagnetic launch (EML) technology, the pulsed power supply (PPS) module applied in EML needs to be smaller, lighter and more compact. Electromagnetic coupling is one of the most serious problems when PPS module works under high current. PPS module used in EML technology is the research object in this paper. According to the structure characteristics, the pulsed inductor model is built. The distribution of current density in the inductor is analyzed in the process of discharging. The finite-element-analysis software is used to simulate and analyze the characteristics of the induction current and the electromagnetic force (EMF). The simulation model is composed of inductor and metal conductors. Change the positions and the shapes of the metal conductors and find out the variation laws of EMF. By analyzing distributions of eddy current in different models and electromagnetic forces acting on different metal conductors at different positions, the electromagnetic coupling laws between the inductor and metal conductors in PPS module have been put forward in this paper.
