Abstract

Abstract Owing to its excellent end-use performance, demand for the general-purpose polymer poly(ethy1ene terephthalate) (PET) has increased each year, and PET has long been the leading feedstock polymer for synthetic fiber, film, and other uses. The manufacturing method used for PET has moved from a batch process to a continuous process and the starting raw materials have changed from dimethyl terephthalate and ethylene glycol (EG) to terephthalic acid (TPA) and EG.
