Abstract

A model describing liquid flux interactions with a damping (elastic) streamlined surface taking into consideration scale factors taking place at macro-, meso-, and microdamping levels has been developed. The relationships between critical numbers of cavitation and erosion and Reynolds number are precise. The results of mathematical simulations of the behavior of elastic materials and coverings are compared with the experimental data obtained during comparison tests of cavitation wear. 13 variants of different materials and elastic coverings have been tested. The theoretical model and the results of sample testing at a magnetostrictive test facility are in good agreement.
