Abstract

Biological effects of pulsed power have been researched actively to induce apoptosis in malignant cells and to control ES cell differentiation. Results of this research have allowed the authors to develop a high power focusing system to induce apoptosis to cancer cells. This system consists of a radiating antenna and an ellipsoidal reflector. The antenna is placed at the first focal point of an ellipsoidal and radiates a high frequency burst signal as electromagnetic waves. This wave from the first focal point is focused at the second focal point through an ellipsoidal reflector. Therefore, the electric field is focused and enhanced at the second focal point. The intensity of the electromagnetic wave decreases in a human body tissues such as skin, fat and muscle. It is thus necessary to instigate damping inside the human body as well as to consider methods preventing damping. This paper shows results of simulated radiating burst electromagnetic waves at various regions of the human body and indicates the degree of the conductivity and permittivity effects on the electric field. Also, the authors have optimized the configuration of the reflector to affect the living body effectively.
