Abstract
The factors influencing the quality of power are investigated. The necessity of using active filters in autonomous power systems is determined. A model of an active filter for a ship's closed-feed system with a nonlinear non-symmetric load has been designed. Simulation was performed with various parameters of the system. Based on the results of simulation, it is concluded that a compensating active current filter will improve the quality of electrical energy onboard ship. The filter removes non-symmetry, smoothes current harmonics and compensates for the reactive component of currents. The use of this circuit design is advisable for autonomous systems of limited power on ships of the merchant fleet.
