Abstract

Numerical simulation of air flow over a heated flat plate was performed using the anisotropic k-ε model. The wall functions for velocity and temperature were modified using universal functions, and the buoyant term in the dissipation equation was eliminated. The calculated results were compared with those from wind tunnel experiments. The calculated mean velocity, turbulent intensity and mean temperature showed good agreement with profiles measured in the wind tunnel.
