Abstract

We are concerned with the physicochemical and mathematical modeling of a urea synthesis reactor for simulation and optimization purposes, and with the computer implementation of a reactor simulation module. Simulation results are compared with data from a production-scale plant. The agreement between predicted and observed reactor sensitivity to changes in its operating conditions is also discussed. The module allows comparison of the performance of reactors with different configurations and different degrees of concentration back-mixing
