Abstract
Simulation work on a novel high sensitivity and wide dynamic range phase-sensitive surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is presented. The new concept can theoretically provide an intrinsic resolution enhancement of up to near one order of magnitude in terms of achievable detection sensitivity compared with conventional configuration. The incorporation of an electro-optically tunable layer in the sensor layers stack also means that it can provide a wide dynamic range, which is otherwise impossible for sensors having such high sensitivity.
