Abstract

Non-catalytic reactions in a packed bed reactor as applied to the problem of regeneration of coked catalyst particles have been simulated by three transient models, namely (i) the sharp interface unreacted shrinking core model, (ii) the finite thickness reaction zone with unreacted shrinking core model and (iii) the continuous reaction zone model. The third model predicts the behaviour of the above system more realistically than the other models irrespective of the reaction controlling regimes.
