Abstract

AbstractHump yards are one of the most important elements of railroad. Increase of hump yard performance depends on railway devices. Retarder stopper are being introduced in Russian Federation, designed to stop the car at the end of the classification track. Retarder Stopper are used to replace the difficult manual labor. But there is no clear mathematical model for describing the movement of a car within the Retarder Stopper. In this work, the specific motion resistance created Retarder Stopper is calculated. This specific motion resistance can be used to simulate the movement of the car through Retarder Stopper. As a result, it was found that Retarder Stopper can be used to stop rolling stock at the end of the track of the classification track. In hump yards should be design two Retarder Stoppers. Distance between Retarder Stoppers should be calculated to take into account the local conditions, first of all curvature of the profile and number of cars. It is necessary to use simulation modeling for calculating the distance between the Retarder Stoppers.
