Abstract

For space and clearance studies in vehicle packaging the movement space of the enginetransmission unit plays an increasingly important role in the current densely populated engine compartments. At Audi a simulation method has been developed, validated and tested enabling a prediction of engine movements on a virtual basis already in an early phase of the product-development process. The movement information serves in the digital mock-up to generate dynamic movement envelopes for the virtual front end. The following article focuses on the simulation method.
