Abstract

Thomson scattering phenomena underlie a powerful nonperturbing plasma diagnostic technique, which requires only access to the plasma radiation from the scattering of an incident laser beam. In this paper, a simulation of the Thomson scattering diagnostic of the TCABR tokamak clearly shows the proportionality between the spectral width of the scattered radiation and the square root of the plasma electron temperature, which is the basis for Thomson scattering temperature measurements.
