Abstract

This paper studies a method for simulating radar electromagnetic environment on the background of land-based surveillance radars, and describes radar electromagnetic environment by pulse description word (PDW) and utilizes function simulation method to modeling radar electromagnetic environment. Some mathematic models on parameters of radar electromagnetic environment have been summarized, such as stationary ratio frequency(RF), pulse width(PW) and pulse repetition interval(PRI) model, RF, PW and PRI random agility model. The PDW simulation software has been designed by means of Mat lab graphical user interface (GUI), which has the advantages of convenient operation, friendly interface and low cost. Users can design and control the data generation from corresponding users interface. In the simulation process, French L-band air traffic control radar TRAC2000N is selected as an example. The simulation data about TRAC2000N can be displayed clearly using Simulink software. The eventual results and conclusion can be used as a reference for other land-based surveillance radar electromagnetic environment simulation research.
