Abstract

This paper illustrates an effective real time simulation technique for control performance validation through a case study of electric power steering (EPS) control. The case involves complicated road/tire steering dynamics for which a software package is available to simulate. The study presented in this paper proves the effectiveness of the concept of using successful real time simulation through interfacing with the software package, for the purpose of the steering control performance validation. The presented real-time simulation is conducted on a two-node computer platform engineered by RT-Lab, operating in fixed-step real time. Comparison between real time and off line simulation is also provided.
