Abstract

This paper presents the simulation and optimization of a hybrid renewable energy system which consists of solar and wind energy with energy storage in batteries. The site selected for simulation and optimization is located in Dudhgaon village, Yavatmal district Maharashtra, India. The main aim of optimization of hybrid energy system is to select the appropriate combination of components; their management as well as the control strategy of energy flow so to ensure reliable supply of demand that minimizes the total cost of the system. In this paper system has been simulated by using iHOGA (Improved hybrid optimization by genetic algorithm). A string of simulations has been carried out with different combination of the system components, finally obtaining one best solution for hybrid system which satisfy the user design constraints and control strategy to minimize net present cost.
