Abstract

A definition of a large scale system is given. Principles of Large Scale and Complex Systems (LSCS) are stated, and the principle of uncertainty is formalized. The paper develops a new method of modeling large scale and complex systems, called mathematical-heuristic modelling, which can be used both in simulation and control. As an application, the case of the ecological system of the Danube Delta is taken into consideration, and a mathematical-heuristic model is substantiated. Some simulation results are also presented.
