Abstract

ABSTRACT In this paper analysis and simulation of the eigen-mode fields of a sandwich coupled-slot finline with ferrite are carried out by using finite element method with edge elements. It is found that there is no concentration phenomenon of the fields or power for single eigen-mode propagation and transfer of the power from one slot to another occurs only in the case of superposition of the even mode and odd mode; The transverse distribution of the power at a certain frequency depends on excitation and distance along the line. Based on the analysis and simulation, different devices such as switches, directional couplers and phase shifters may be constructed by selecting the appropriate operation frequency, waveguide length and bias magnetic field.
