Abstract

Fruit rolls are one of the most popular dried food snacks. As the popularity of fruit rolls increases significantly in the last decade, maintenance scheduling for fruit-roll packing lines is becoming more and more important. In order to study the various preventive maintenance (PM) scheduling techniques for the fruit-roll packaging line, this paper builds a simulation model to analyze PM scheduling techniques to reduce downtime and associated costs. Three PM scheduling techniques, which are Global Maintenance Order (GMO), Reliability-based Maintenance Order (RMO), and Value-based Maintenance Order (VMO), are considered. A multi-criteria decision-making approach based on utility theory is proposed to select the PM schedule that will give the best utility, performance, and reliability. Statistical and graphical multi-criteria decision-making analysis are also provided.
