Abstract

In recent years, the whole society's electricity demand showed a sustained and rapid growth trend. Power supply is difficult to meet the demand. Power peak difference is widening year by year and seasonal power shortage occurs. Household electric water heater with large power consumption and good heat storage is an important demand response resource in power system. This paper first established mathematical model of electric water heater and water consumption based on demand response. Then analyzed water heater group adjustable potential by using different temperature control strategy. In view of the load group response rate is critical to handling power grid emergencies, this paper also found out the limit response rate of water heater group. The simulation results show that load rate of power grid can be improved and load peak can be reduced effectively by using water heater control strategy.
