Abstract

This paper presents the modelling and simulation of Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) for mitigation of voltage sags and swells which are the major problems and issues on nonlinear loads using Feed-forward Instantaneous power theory. In recent years, utilities have been faced with rising number of complaints about the quality of power due to sags and swells. The Dynamic Voltage Restore (DVR) has become popular as a cost effective solutions for the protection of sensitive loads from disturbances .Whenever power quality problems occur, DVR has to automatically detect and inject required voltage to the system. The performance of DVR depends on efficiency of the control technique involved in switching the inverters. The control of compensation voltages in DVR based on a-b-c to d-q-0 algorithm is discussed. A comparative study has been carried out to analyse the effectiveness using fuzzy controller and without using fuzzy controller with proposed technique by MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
