Abstract

Abstract Both in the process of computer-aided design and for the computer-aided production control simulation plays an important role. In the process of computer-aided design structure and dimension of the whole Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) are determined by using mathematical methods. By means of simulation the dynamical behaviour of such system can be studied to get more information about the efficiency of PMS. Moreover, simulation can be used at operational level of the real time control system to find out an optimal control strategy for the next time period. Result of this simulation is a set of jobs to be produced in this time and a corresponding schedulXe. In this paper a simulation model is described, which can be used as well for the design as for the verification of control strategies.
