Abstract

Landscape plants, which are the bulk of the components of the virtual landscape, incur the problems in simulating the landscape plants due to their complex forms. Fractal theory can provide the proper solutions to the problems in simulating the objects of the complex forms by implementing the principles of fractal geometry and algorithm of fractal sets to achieve the mapping of landscape plants and the authenticity and vividness of the virtual landscape. The L systems and Stochastic iterative algorithm are employed to generate the mapping of trees and plants, and VC + + programming is used to provide the examples of the trees and flora scenes. Experiments and cases of its application prove that the trees and flora scenes generated by this algorithm are vivid; additionally its application is of high efficiency and gives rise to easier and more convenient simulation of landscape plants on large scale.
