Abstract

The research examines the passive techniques: courtyard and WWR of institutional buildings of Gujrat. The report is a component of a comprehensive research project that aims to investigate how architectural factors affect how efficiently and environmentally sound classrooms work in hot and dry areas. The parametric analysis of the impact of two various courtyard designs on daylighting in Ahmedabad's typical hot and dry environment is shown here. The methodology was based on simulations created by the computer programs Ecotect and Revit-Insight. Two case studies with two different sky conditions were examined. The models have revealed variations in the illuminance level of daylight under overcast and clear sky circumstances. For instance, the first case has a higher WWR than the second, hence the results indicate a roughly 18% increase in the level of daylight illumination in the first case compared to the second. According to the results, it is possible to rely mostly on daylighting to provide appropriate lighting in classrooms.
