Abstract
The imposing manner and vibrant tone of both Chinese painting are rarely seen on the world stage of the computer graphics due to the difficulty in simulating their style and techniques. However, it will be a pity for the changeful field of computer animations if the unique aesthetic value and cultural characteristic fade into silence just because of the lack of innovations. Therefore, this paper will emphasize how to show the special image style of Chinese painting in computer animated techniques in order to promote the art of Chinese painting as well as to widen a broader view of three-dimensional animation. The research of this paper is discussing non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) by using computer graphics to express the image style of Chinese painting. The applied method is on the basis of production pipeline of computer animation. The modeling principle is ”every stroke is viewed as an object.” The tips of the light control are divided into ”turned-off light” and ”light regarded as the parameter of the contrastive degree”. As for shading rendering, the following four shading procedures are being manipulated to simulate the approach of Chinese painting to display the ink color: ink color layer, silhouette diffusion layer, fei-bai layer, and scenic-depth layer. At last, the picture will be synthesized and, at the same time, match the paper's color and material quality to regain the image of Chinese painting style.
