Abstract
To investigate the full mechanical behavior of concrete segmental lining longitudinal joints with gaskets, a numerical bending test is performed by a detailed three dimensional (3D) continuum numerical model for the segment joint of the Yellow River Crossing Tunnel lining. Simplified spring models including a simplified plate-spring analytical model and a simplified solid-spring numerical model are proposed to analyze the rotational stiffness of the longitudinal joint. The bending test reveals that the mechanical behavior of the longitudinal joint with gaskets can be divided into four stages. The proposed simplified plate-spring analytical model and simplified solid-spring numerical model allow the effect of the properties of bolts and various gaskets, the concrete contact force, the geometry of the joint section and the subjected loads to be taken into consideration. The results of the simplified spring models are well consistent with these of the detailed 3D continuum numerical model, and the proposed models can be adopted for the simulation of the segment longitudinal joints with various gaskets.
