Abstract

Abstract In this paper we proposed to implement a simple empirical model based on a well-established mathematical correlations of the output voltage for a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) system with the current, temperature, partial reactant pressure and membrane conductivity in order to validate two experimental polarization curves, registered at different anode and cathode backpressures and also to evaluate individually different type of cell losses in the form of activation, ohmic and concentration overpotentials. Thermodynamic efficiency of the PEMFC system experimentally tested at different backpressures was also established here.
