Abstract

An experiment was performed to calculate the power transformer losses due to current harmonics. During the experiment, a power meter with Modbus RTU communication and a programmable logic controller (PLC) were used. While testing the calculation algorithm, the influence of the reactive power compensation device on the power transformer losses due to the ongoing resonance was observed. In this work, the algorithm is transferred to a programmable power meter with an ION environment to achieve good sampling and integration frequency. The purpose of this work is to implement user friendly prototype for estimation of transformer losses due to current harmonics and low power factor in real time.
