Abstract
The simplified elasticity of a B<sub>2</sub> - phase is based on elastic free energy density of biaxial nematic liquid crystal with four elastic constants. No layer deformations are supposed. Simplest solutions describing twist deformations in one dimension which can be induced by an external influence in synclinic and anticlinic, ferroelectric and antiferroelectric B<sub>2</sub> structures were given as examples of the use of the proposed simplified elastic free energy density.
