Abstract

A process involving simultaneous absorption and desorption with or without chemical reaction often involves the possibility of supersaturation in the vicinity of the gas–liquid interface. Simple mathematical criteria have been developed which can predict the possibility of such supersaturation which may cause additional turbulence near the interface and result in increased mass transfer rates.
