Abstract

We propose a remarkably simple scheme for evaluating the ground state energy of quantum anharmonic oscillators. The only information needed in the calculation is the coefficient of the first term of the standard strong coupling expansion, which has recently been recalculated by Weniger [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77 (1996) 2859] from the coefficients of the renormalized strong coupling expansion. The problem is reduced to that of solving a polynomial equation and the predicted energy values closely agree with those obtained by other methods.
