Abstract

Leaching of soil nitrates and the resulting environmental hazard were tested in glass pipes filled with soil samples. The pipes were 20 mm in diameter and the soil columns were 200 mm high. Portion of 150 ml distilled water were used for leaching. According to the soil texture different percentage of nitrate present was leached. Using the “secondary leaching” the biological nitrate formation might be estimated.
