Abstract

In this paper a simple, core-based realtime executive for the small Polish mini-computer MERA 300 is described. The main functions of the executive are following: realization of features, lacked in hardware, but necessary for effective and easy programming (indirect addressing, sub-routine nesting); handling of multiple concurrent tasks on a fixed priority basis; providing the means of communication between tasks; initiation of tasks as a function of time or external events. Tne executive has a simple logical structure and modular construction. It is implemented as a hierarchy of levels, communication between levels is provided by trap instruction. The executive is used in student's laboratories for running programs, which control the laboratory equipment and models of industrial processes.
