Abstract
This article discusses the problems with the hydrant maintenance program in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with special emphasis on cold weather operations and freezing temperatures. It discusses how the program was analyzed for better performance and describes the changes that were implemented and what the results were. Inspections were not being completed before the onset of winter's freezing temperatures because of time‐consuming procedures and several suggestions were made to speed up the process.
