Abstract

Conversion of waste heat into usable electricity is a strategic technology for saving natural resources and an important option for powering autonomous devices. Current developments in micro- and nanotechnology open new horizons and require revisiting the process of energy conversion with a focus on low-dimensional micro- and nano-scale generators. An important advantage of the low-dimensional systems for pyroelectric conversion is that they may operate at higher frequencies and render increased specific powers. Here we develop simple model of high-frequency pyroelectric conversion. It is demonstrated that miniaturization of pyroelectric energy harvesters leads to essential gains in specific power.
