Abstract
Applicability of delay time analysis as a tool for downtime reduction in industry has been already proved through case studies decades ago. This article attempts to encourage the SMEs to implement the technique for downtime management by providing a startup method of implementation by consultants. The algorithm shall be more suitable for those small /medium scale industries engaging continuous production lines that are on the lookout of reducing downtimes or cost of breakdowns. Sample numerical examples and the graphical solution while arriving at optimization of downtime are shown for use by practitioners.
