Abstract

A simple method is introduced whereby the characteristic impedance of striplines may be calculated with reasonable accuracy. The method is an extension of an earlier method introduced by Schwarzmann. Formulas are derived for the characteristic impedance of microstriplines as function of their geometry. The method used is the subdivision of the capacitance associated with a microstripline into three easily calculated components.
